Brisingr, or The Seven Promises of Eragon Shadeslayer and Saphira Bjartskular, is the third book in the Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini. It was published in September 2008. The series is a coming-of-age story set in the fictional world of Alagaësia and follows the adventures of a young man named Eragon and his dragon, Saphira.
In Brisingr, Eragon and Saphira continue to learn and grow as they fight against the evil king, Galbatorix. The book follows their journey as they fulfill their promises and obligations to various people and groups, forge new alliances, and face unexpected challenges. Throughout the story, Eragon learns more about his own heritage and abilities, as well as the history and politics of Alagaësia.
The Inheritance Cycle series, which begins with Eragon (2002), continues with Eldest (2005) and Brisingr (2008), and concludes with Inheritance (2011), has gained a large following of fans and has been compared to other popular fantasy series such as The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
